JUST-IN: Gunmen kidnap Benue’s information commissioner

According to 234JAMZ MEDIA, Matthew Abo, the Benue state commissioner for information, culture, and tourism, has been kidnapped

On Sunday night, September 25, Abo was kidnapped from his house in his village of Zaki-Biam community in the state’s Ukum Local Government Area

According to accounts, Abo was kidnapped by gunmen who arrived to his home in Zaki-Biam, a rural community known for having the biggest yam market in the nation, on four motorcycles

According to eyewitnesses, the gunmen arrived at the home of the information commissioner and told everyone—including his wife and children—to lie face down before escorting Abo away on one of the motorcycles to an unidentified location

The commissioner was forced by the kidnappers to sit behind the driver of one of the motorcycles as a gunman swung him around

Kula Tersoo, the governor of the state’s chief press secretary, confirmed the occurrence

“Unfortunately, on Sunday, September 24, 2023, at around 8 o’clock, the commissioner was abducted from his country residence in Ukum LGA. When the armed men entered, he was inside his house with his family, kids, and community members. He was coerced into riding a bike. His Excellency, Governor Hyacinth Alia has already instructed and detailed the security operatives to ensure his safe release from the kidnappers’ den once we learned of the terrible event
