A deadly tragedy claimed the lives of some 500 Level accounting students from Ladoke Akintola University (LAUTECH) Ogbomoso, Oyo State as they were returning from a trip to the Erin-Ijesa Waterfall in Osun State

The tragedy happened on Wednesday night while they were leaving Ilobu-Okinni-Osogbo in Osun State to visit the waterfall

Adedoyin Faith, one of the deceased, was the first child of Hon. Sanjo Adedoyin (Sanjay), the majority leader of the Oyo State House of Assembly, according to ECLAT Media

The student was being transported in a bus when it caught fire; the accident’s cause is unknown as of the time this story is being filed

Lekan Fadeyin, the school’s public relations officer, acknowledged the accident to the Nigerian Tribune but was unable to provide exact statistics because he has not yet received more details about the incident

“I can confirm to you that there was an accident while some students passed away, but I have not gotten the details of their identities,” the school representative stated

Anuoluwa Adeboye, the institution’s president of the students’ union, said in a phone conversation with this outlet that as part of their activities as final-year students, the students organized a trip to the Erin-Ijesa Waterfall following their first semester exam
