Gov. Radda tells FG, “Insecurity: Allow Nigerians To Buy AK-47”

Dikko Umaru Radda, the Executive Governor of Katsina State, has requested that the Federal Government amend its legislation to permit private ownership and purchase of firearms for self-defense, including as AK-47 rifles and RPGs

“It is a double-edged sword,” he said on Friday, October 20, when speaking in Abuja. We cannot declare that we will not defend ourselves because we lack the advanced weapons that these bandits do. Instead, we must fold our arms

We possess the necessary numbers, enthusiasm, and resolve. It’s important to keep in mind that, should they embark on any kind of excursion, it will be conducted exactly as it was in Borno by the Civilian JTF. The highly armed police and military personnel will cover them

Thus, in my opinion, it is a coordinated effort. We are, I believe, steadily operating within the bounds of what the law permits us to own. That is our goal, and we are working to change the federal government in that way
