FLASH: The Federal Government announces the start date for a new cash transfer to 15 million Nigerians

Starting in October, the federal government will roll out a new cash distribution program aimed at fifteen million households. During an interview on Arise TV on Monday, Betta Edu, the minister of humanitarian affairs and poverty alleviation, made this announcement

She stressed that the purpose of this initiative is to give people real financial assistance so they can establish their own enterprises and improve the quality of their lives

Edu also noted that in order to verify the National Social Register, the Federal Government will work with state governments and local communities. According to her, the register presently contains information on 15.7 million households, totaling roughly 62 million people. The administration wants to make sure that persons who fall under this heading continue to qualify for such interventions
