Breaking: A Falling Tre in Kwara Kills Two and Injures Ten

The capital of Kwara State, Ilorin, was struck by tragedy on Monday when a tree collapsed in the Sango section of the town, killing two people—including a woman—and injuring ten more

Sources claim that the event happened at about eight in the morning at the side of the road close to a gas station across from the town’s Oke Adini Junction

The woman passed away instantly, according to a Punch article, and other supporters hurried her to a nearby private hospital

It was also discovered that nearby stores and electrical wires were damaged by the falling tree

According to a source, “the tree fell on the deceased and the injured people as they were waiting by the roadside beside the gas station to board commercial vehicles to their various destinations”

The University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital and the state hospital received the seriously injured patients, while about ten wounded were evacuated to a nearby hospital and treated with first aid

The incident was confirmed by SP Okasanmi Ajayi, the public relations officer for the state police

“A branch fell off a tree at the Sango area this (Monday) morning,” stated Okasanmi in a statement. Two of the seven people who were impacted passed away after being taken to the hospital, while the other three are currently receiving treatment

“The case is still being investigated. As soon as the investigation is over, details will be made public

The state administration has expressed sympathy to the impacted individuals’ families in the interim

“In a swift response to distress calls received from the Oke-Andi (Oke-Adini) community following the unfortunate falling of a major tree branch on unsuspecting members of the community using the base of the tree as stalls and commuters awaiting the next bus, a team of experts from the state Ministry of Health were deployed to provide emergency care to the victims,” stated a statement signed by the ministry’s press secretary, Gbenga Falade, and made by the state commissioner for health, Dr. Mariam El-Imam
