The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress of Nigeria have announced a statewide strike, which will begin at midnight on Monday, November 13. The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has instructed its members to participate

The instruction was provided by ASUU President Prof. Emmanuel Osodeke in a letter that was distributed to each branch chairperson and zonal coordinator on Monday night

In order to defend the interests of Nigerian workers and the union leadership, the members of our union, as an affiliate of NLC, are thus instructed to join this action office NLC

Chairpersons of the branches and zonal coordinators should get our members involved in the action right away. He declared, “A people united cannot be defeated”

As you may remember, the TUC and the NLC went on a statewide strike last week in response to Joe Ajaero, the president of the NLC, being mistreated during the workers’ demonstration in Imo State
