APC reverses course on Wike inclusion and claims the campaign council lists are unreliable

The All Progressives Congress, APC , has dispelled rumors that it includes Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, as a member of their Campaign council, claiming that the ruling party has not released any campaign council names for the gubernatorial elections in Kogi, Bayelsa, and Imo

The APC’s organizing secretary, Muhammad Argungu, claimed in a post on platform X (formerly known as Twitter) on Tuesday that Abdullahi Ganduje, the party’s national chairman, had approved the formation of the campaign councils after consulting with the NWC

Dapo Abiodun, the governor of Ogun, was to head the APC’s campaign council for the Kogi governorship in the now-disowned lists

Bassey Otu, the governor of Cross River, was chosen to lead the party’s campaign council in Imo, while Inuwa Yahaya, the governor of Gombe, was designated to lead it in Bayelsa

The campaign councils for Kogi, Bayelsa, and Imo comprised 135, 123, and 138 members, respectively

The governors of Kogi that were a part of the campaign council were Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Mohammed Bago, and Uba Sani

Members of the Bayelsa campaign council were appointed by Senate President Godswill Akpabio, Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) George Akume, Minister of Humanitarian Affairs Betta Edu

Rochas Okorocha, a former senator, Benjamin Kalu, the deputy speaker of the house of representatives, and Francis Nwifuru, the governor of Ebonyi, were also intended to serve as members of the state’s campaign committee for Imo

However, the ruling party said it had not yet established campaign councils for the elections a few hours after the list was made public

The National Campaign Council Lists for the 11th November, 2023 Governorship Elections in the States of Bayelsa, Kogi, and Imo have caught the attention of the All Progressives Congress (APC), according to a statement from the party’s spokesperson Felix Morka on Tuesday night

The lists should not be taken seriously because they are not Party official papers

Nyesom Wike, minister of the federal capital territory (FCT), was included as a member of the Bayelsa campaign council before the APC withdrew the lists

His name was removed from a new list, and eventually the party withdrew everything
